Dear Industry Friends,
The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) has been an important step forward for the home performance, HVAC, and solar industries. From upgrades to the solar tax credit to the 25C tax credit, as well as the two new Home Energy Rebate programs, these incentives have provided the resources and momentum to help businesses in our sectors grow their companies.
But today, we’re facing a serious challenge. Recent executive orders from the new administration threaten federal funding that supports these programs and aim to potentially eliminate them entirely. The uncomfortable truth is that, at this moment, things are volatile and difficult to predict. This is what’s clear: demonstrating to Congress that there is broad industry support for these programs is the most important thing we can do at this moment.
Here’s what you can do today:
1. Join Collective Industry Advocacy Efforts
- More than 1,000 contractors have already signed a letter to specifically defend the 25C tax credit—click to read the text. If you haven’t yet, we strongly encourage you to add your name and share it with your network.

- There is also a separate business letter circulating more broadly in support of clean energy incentives, with over 300 companies that have signed across the country. If you haven’t signed yet, the deadline has been extended to January 31.

2. Advocate Directly with Your Congressional Representatives
Reach out to your Congress people. Share your story. Explain why these incentives are critical—not just to your business, but to the greater mission of helping people fix their homes. Make it personal. Let them know how these programs have helped you serve your customers, grow your business, and improve people’s lives.
3. Use Your Platform to Raise Awareness
Whether it’s an email to your customers, a post on your website or social media channels, or a conversation with your local community, every voice counts. Educate others about what’s at risk and how they can help. Tag your representatives and industry groups, and encourage your network to do the same.
These incentives represent an important piece of the overall effort to accelerate and scale the goal of fixing America’s building stock. Their impact knows no party lines. Every part of the country–red and blue–benefits from helping people with the cost of improving their homes.
Our friends and industry allies that are much closer to the on-the-ground Washington political reality tell me this is a winnable fight, as long as we can show overwhelming support. I hope you’ll carve out a little time to make your voice heard.
Sincerely, Peter Troast
